Recently, Napa RCD welcomed three 2026 Fall Teen Conservation Interns.
The Teen Conservation Internship empowers high school students to develop valuable career skills and lead impactful environmental projects in their communities. As interns, these teens will coordinate conservation efforts focused on improving watershed and forest health, gaining hands-on experience both in the office and the field. By the end of the internship, they’ll have a solid foundation in resource conservation planning and the skills to inspire and instruct others in making a positive environmental impact.
Click through the sections below to read a little more about each 2026 Fall Teen Conservation Intern and what drew them towards this work.
Meet Esperanza

Esperanza was born in Napa and currently attends New Technology Highschool as a senior. A goal that Esperanza has set for herself is to get more out of her comfort zone. Her favorite outdoor memory was going to Santa Cruz and exploring all the beaches up to it with her family. Some fun facts: If she were to be any kind of wildlife she would probably be a jellyfish and she would love to visit the Galapagos because of how much there is to explore. Esperanza decided to join Napa RCD because she wants to study and work as a Marine biologist or a Wildlife Biologist in the future. She hopes to improve in social skills as well as get a better sense of what it is like to work in this profession. Lastly she wants other people to know that the earth isn’t just our home so we should do our best to preserve it so we can share it.
Meet Alexander

Alexander was born and raised in Napa Valley and is currently attending New Technology High School as a senior. Spending his whole life here in Napa, he’s seen the small town turn into a tourist trap, where the local environment and community are often overlooked or mistreated by visitors. This has made it his dream to help advocate for the land, which has no voice of its own, and bring people together to stand up for what is right. His dad shared his love of nature with Alexander by taking him hiking and enjoying the outdoors, showing him everything he loved.
Meet Tyler

Tyler was Born and raised in Napa, California and is currently in his junior year of high school, attending VIntage High School. A goal that he has set for himself is to face his fears and take on new experiences that he conventionally wouldn’t find himself in to learn and grow from. Tyler’s best memories come from live music, whether it be music festivals or concerts. He has learned to be himself by immersing himself in these experiences. Tyler joined Napa RCD after learning about the opportunity from a teacher, being intrigued by the opportunity to connect with the place that has given so much to him. Something Tyler hopes to learn about regarding the environment is how to lead a sustainable lifestyle that gives back to the world more than it takes from it. A fun fact about Tyler is that he plays guitar, he loved to sing from a young age which led him to pick up the instrument in middle school, and consequently never put it down.
We’d like to extend a warm THANK YOU to our project funders for making this work possible:
