2026 Fall Water-Wise Landscaping Workshop #1
Water-Wise Site Preparation: Soil, Compost, and More!
October 7, 6:30-8:30pm
Napa Senior Center-Manzanita Room
After reviewing City water conservation and the eight basic principles of water-wise landscaping, the City’s Water Resources Analyst, Pat Costello, will turn things over to Miguel Garcia, Sustainable Agriculture Program Manager at Napa County RCD. Miguel will examine soil texture and structure, local soil types, and the critical role that soil plays in making a landscape water-efficient. After the UC Master Gardeners of Napa County demonstrate some important soil features, Miguel will show how to improve your soil with aeration, amendments, and mulch. The sheet mulching method of lawn removal will be highlighted.
