Forests are more than trees—they are the backbone of healthy communities, resilient ecosystems, and a thriving watershed. At Napa RCD, our forestry program focuses on protecting and restoring these landscapes across Napa County.
When our forests are healthy, they do more than just stand tall. They capture carbon to combat climate change, reduce wildfire risks, filter the water that supports our crops and homes, and provide critical habitat for countless species.

At Napa RCD, we believe in the transformative power of forest stewardship. When we care for the land, the land cares for us. This work is personal—it’s about creating stronger, safer, and more resilient landscapes for our families, our communities, and future generations.
Here’s a look at how we’re making a difference, one tree at a time:
- Forest Stewardship: We work closely with land managers to understand their needs, develop plans tailored to their property and goals, and secure financial assistance needed to improve forest health and wildfire resilience.
- Re-Oaking and Native Vegetation: By reintegrating oaks and other native plants, we restore essential ecosystems—even within developed areas.
- Wildfire Recovery: Our team provides site-specific, locally based technical support to help landowners and managers recover sustainably after fire.
- Napa Prescribed Burn Association: This volunteer-based group safely uses prescribed fire to reduce wildfire risk and restore forest health.
- Inner Coast Collaborative: This regional partnership spans 5,500 square miles across Colusa, Lake, Napa, Solano, Sonoma, and Yolo Counties, improving forest health and fire resilience at a landscape scale.
Our work in forestry extends beyond the trees—it’s a commitment to the land and to one another. When we restore our forests, we restore Napa’s entire watershed. The health of the land is directly tied to the health of our rivers, our wildlife, our agriculture, and our communities. Each effort, whether it’s planting a tree or planning a prescribed burn, extends outward, creating a brighter Napa for all.
Why Your Support Matters:
This essential work would not be possible without the support of our community. When you donate to Napa RCD through the Give!Guide, you’re helping protect the forests that protect us. You’re ensuring that Napa’s landscapes remain vibrant and resilient for generations to come.
The campaign is open from now until December 31, 2025—every donation, no matter the size, makes a real impact.
A Gift for Every Donation
The Monkey Flower Group will gift a small floral bouquet to every donor who makes a donation to Napa RCD through the Give!Guide. Donors who give $50 or more will receive five small flower arrangements.
Thank you for standing with us as we care for Napa’s land, water, soil, and wildlife.
Stay tuned for next week’s feature on our Agriculture Program!
