Recently, Napa RCD welcomed three 2024 Fall Teen Conservation Interns.

The Teen Conservation Internship empowers high school students to develop valuable career skills and lead impactful environmental projects in their communities. As interns, these teens will coordinate conservation efforts focused on improving watershed and forest health, gaining hands-on experience both in the office and the field. By the end of the internship, they’ll have a solid foundation in resource conservation planning and the skills to inspire and instruct others in making a positive environmental impact.

Ines Guadalupe Carlin

Ines goes to Vintage High School and is involved in Future Farmers of America. Through FFA, Ines got introduced to forestry, sustainable agriculture, and water conservation. This newly found interest led to her involvement in FFA chapters, greenhand leadership, AG classes, and now the RCD environmental internship. Through this internship, Ines wants to explore agricultural career paths and along the way enhance her organizational skills. She firmly believes that you can learn a new thing everyday. Ranging from big to small, fun facts or about yourself and/or others. Ines grew up in Napa but was born in Michoacan Zamora in Mexico. Outside of school, Ines is very interested in art, literature, and biking.

Francisco Flores

Francisco goes to Valley Oak High School. He first got interested in environmental work when he saw the Napa forest fires happen and as a kid seeing a lot of nature burn and breathing in bad air. He wanted to do something about it by doing his part. He is most excited to learn about how it feels to work in an office setting and wants to improve on having better collaborative skills with others. One fact about him is that he has been a 49ers fan since birth. He grew up in Napa Ca and him and his dad would ride bikes all around napa when he was little so he was exposed to being outside and around nature very young.

Julian Ordonez

Julian goes to Valley Oak high School. He wanted to do this internship because his friends told him about it and also when he was little his mom would tell him about climate change and global warming. One thing he is looking forward to during this internship is learning more about how bad our environment really is. Something he would like to share about himself is he is a raiders fan and has been one since birth. His background is, he was born in Napa california at Queen Of The Valley and he is also very family oriented and when he was little he played football from the age of four and a half to 14. One thing he likes to do in his spare time is play basketball with his friends and sister and have cookouts with his family.
