CANCELLED: Rotary Screw Trap Open House

We are postponing the RST Open House to late May. The event on Saturday, April 1 is cancelled.
No, this is not an early April Fool’s Joke, we’re really postponing it!

Why is it postponed??
As we are making our way through a year filled with some strong storms and high flows in the Napa River, we wanted to fill folks in on the status of the Rotary Screw Trap.

In the past couple years, the RST has either not run, or run for minimal days due to low flows in the Napa River. This year, we are certainly not having that issue! High flows have actually done a small amount of damage to the RST, and because the flows are so high and fast, the RST has not yet run this season. We are looking at another storm rolling through on Tues/Wed March 28/29, and our staff are confident the RST will not be operational by April 1. This timeline means we will be shifting our Open House. The plan is to have the RST running until late May, and we are working to finalize details on date and staff.

Stay tuned for updates!

Please join Napa RCD for an Open House at the Rotary Screw Trap!

Napa RCD’s Environmental Scientist, Martin Perales, will be there to talk about all the fishy things in the Napa River! Guests will hear about what’s happening with fish in the river, what our staff are seeing during this year’s run of the Rotary Screw Trap, and head down to see the Rotary Screw Trap in action.

Guests can sign up for one of two time slots, 10am or 11am. Both time slots will have the same information presented.
