In September 2015 volunteers fanned out across Newell Open Space Preserve to help plant hundreds of acorns. Help RCD and Friends of the Napa River monitor germination, remove invasive weeds and grasses, and apply soil protecting mulch to these young tree starts. Join the RCD’s 5,000 Oaks Initiative – a goal to plant 5,000 native oak trees across Napa County in 3 years.
When: Saturday, May 21, 9 am – 11 am
Where: Newell Open Space Preserve, American Canyon
What: Gardening style outdoor work, please dress prepared for wet, dirty, and tall weedy grasses. Sturdy shoes, durable pants are essential. We will provide gloves, mulch, water, and coffee.
Who: All ages are appropriate, children under 12 must be supervised by a guardian, youth under 18 must have a signed waiver.
