The RCD uses scientifically sound methods to assess and better-understand sources of erosion within the RCD’s boundary. The RCD has focused assessment on rural road-related erosion in the watersheds, as this source has been identified as both significant and cost-effective to treat. Results of erosion source assessments are used to prioritize RCD efforts and to establish credible information for the community and policy makers to consider when making decisions that influence conservation. Information gained from assessing roads on private and public land is incorporated into our education programs and often leads to development erosion control plans and road improvement projects.
